Geisinger Health System is pleased to sponsor OPEN captioning for the 5 pm Saturday movie screenings, making the Campus Theatre deaf & hard-of-hearing accessible! The Campus Theatre recognizes that for many people, hearing loss can take the joy out of a trip to the movies. The Theatre does have listening devices available for guest use for all film screenings, however, we are excited to partner with Geisinger to be able to offer Open Caption Screenings in order to provide a complete movie experience for people with hearing disabilities that most hearing people take for granted. We are so pleased to be able to partner with Geisinger to bring the magic of movies to deaf & hard-of-hearing folks in our community and beyond. Digital Open Caption screenings show the film in its intended cinematic format, but include readable text on the movie screen with descriptors of dialogue, sound effects and music. Even important details such as the set design and costumes that set the tone of a movie are shown as text on the screen. The soundtrack still plays along with the movie, but Open Caption provides screen text as additional content specifically catered to people with hearing disabilities who utilize listening devices, hearing aids, cochlear implants, sign language and lip reading. Digital Open Caption does not require the use of any special listening devices or similar technology. General admission prices apply.
